Dr. David Callies

Dr. David CalliesDr. Callies served as a staff Pediatric Psychologist at Madigan Army Medical Center from 2005 to 2008 after being recognized for his outstanding performance during his post-doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Psychology. His focus at Madigan was on the treatment of children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems, attention problems, anxiety, problems adjusting to life circumstances, depression, developmental delays, pervasive developmental disorders like Autism and Asperger’s Disorder, deployment-related problems and youth with chronic medical conditions and illnesses.

As the Chief of Child & Family Services at Madigan he provided outreach services and training on child resiliency to service members. In addition, Dr. Callies routinely collaborated with Developmental-Behavioral Pediatricians in the treatment of pervasive developmental disorders and was the lead psychologist in the Diabetes and Hematology & Oncology clinics at Madigan to meet the psychological needs of children with Diabetes, various cancers and other medical conditions.

Certification & Affiliations

Dr. Callies has been a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of Washington since 2004. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and the Washington State Psychological Association and is a contract provider with the Washington State Department of Veteran’s Affairs.

Continuing Education

Dr. Callies keeps abreast of new developments in the field of Pediatric & Child and Adolescent Psychology through continuing education courses and participation in national and regional conferences, workshops and symposiums.

Community Involvements

Dr. Callies is a strong supporter of the counselors and teachers in the Clover Park, North Thurston, Olympia, Shelton and Tumwater school districts. He has given presentations on developing child resilience and school-based interventions for children with attention problems, anxiety, disruptive behaviors pervasive developmental disorders in schools throughout Thurston and Pierce counties.

Dr. Callies was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and now lives in Lacey with his daughter, Allison, son, Andrew, and their two dogs, Olie and Coconut. He enjoys raising Japanese Koi, gardening and fishing for steelhead in the rivers of the Olympic Peninsula.
