In Our Community
Have you visited our sister site, Go-Gyro-Go? Our motto for Go-Gyro-Go is "Connecting Families with Their Community." We believe that children of families who feel connected to their community are emotionally stronger, socially more stable and happier overall.
If you know of an upcoming event, a favorite activity or a hidden gem your family loves, bounce on over to Go-Gyro-Go and share it with us. We might add it to our list!
Dr. David Callies is supporting military kids, teens and family members in our local schools
Dr. Callies is a contracted provider with the Washington State Department of Veteran’s Affairs in Olympia to provide outreach services to children, adolescents and their families. Dr. Callies began working with students who have a family member or caregiver in the military at North Thurston High School and Woodland Elementary School this October and plans to meet with students weekly throughout the 2010-2011 school year. The primary focus of Dr. Callies’ work is to help children and teens build resiliency, problem solving and communication skills so that they can improve their adjustment to a family member’s deployment, reunification and other changes and challenges associated with military life.
